Recently, the Stewardship Committee decided that members of the Committee/Church would be asked to share their thoughts on Stewardship, so I would like to share mine with you. Using our talents involves two things gifts and time so when I first heard the word talents, I knew I had none. I had no particular gifts. Then I began to offer myself in service to Jesus, the Servant King, and gradually I found I could do things. I accomplished tasks that I thought were beyond my capacity, surprising myself, but I give God the glory. So to those who say they have no gifts, I say get involved in God's work and your gifts will be revealed and as you use them you will have not only a sense of accomplishment but pure joy in serving God's people. Now many of you might be thinking, where is the time to come from? It comes from the giver of life. When we are dead we have no time. While we have life we have time life and time are synonymous. It is a matter of getting our priorities straight. I have found that my Church involvement still leave me time for personal enjoyment. Sometimes it gets a bit full and I have to do a juggling act, but it always works out.
God has entrusted the care of this building to us. Recently members of the Church have used their gifts by making a cabinet to hold the sound system, another installed new lights which are environmentally friendly, our lawns and gardens have been well maintained all summer and the plumbing has been taken care of. Years ago stained glass windows depicting aspects of our faith were installed; all these gifts have been used to God's glory. As we celebrate Thanksgiving. I would like us to reflect on how we can use what God has given us to help build up His kingdom here on earth. No one gift is more important than the other God blesses whatever we offer to Him and multiplies it. So on Thanksgiving Sunday let us come with thankful hearts to offer to God what He has given us and how He has revealed you can serve Him. Every Sunday as we offer our monetary gifts to God we say, "All things come of thee of Oh Lord and of thine own have we given thee". This applies to everything God has given us.
