Worship Team Report - 2007
"Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord, who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!" Psalm 135
The year 2007 has been one of trust, change, love and surrender. God has been working in the hearts of all those that were involved in the music ministry this past year. God's plan of restoring His kingdom here has been set in motion since the month of January 2007. We continued to implement our team rotations week after week. This gave the team ample opportunity and chance to share with all other team members their prayer requests, stories, testimonies and love for the Lord. The departure of Marc Bontemps for bible school over the course of the winter-spring semester gave the percussions a bigger role. Luke took the challenge to heart and has shown tremendous progress in his skill on the congas and growth as one of the team leaders.
Knowing that God was leading me to a change in my leadership role for the near future, I continued to encourage, lead and share my leadership skills and experiences with many of the team's members to promote their own leadership potential. Melanie Hill, Michael Hum and Elizabeth Irwin have shown to be great leaders in the music ministry here at St-Mikes. Mel took on the team over the summer and successfully fulfilled the progress that God was wanting for our family. A few new members joined Mel over the summer and gave the sunny months of June, July and August some great times of music, praise and worship. Praise the Lord! At the end of the summer, James Armstrong announced his departure from St-Mikes. Although this was a time of change, God was faithful! I would like to thank James from the bottom of my heart for his commitment, love of music and joy of the Lord every day he was involved with the music here at St-Mikes. Our prayers are with you at your new post in Hudson.
God's faithfulness came through by giving Michael, Melanie and myself the time, strength, and love to pursue His plan for St-Mikes during our interim time without a musical director. During these brief weeks, Bill Riley filled in beautifully both on the organ and with the Praise Team before the Lord blessed us with the arrival of Hrvoje Peric as our new Music Director. He is a very talented piano and organ player with extensive choir and orchestral experience under his belt. He was a great heart for music, youth, and God. With his wife Natalia and their new little boy, I know that they will bring a new chapter in the life of God's Church.
With the New Year upon us, I continue to pray and thank God for His awesome glory, love and faithfulness in and through this ministry. I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to lead you all in the heart of the worship, to lead you in the praise, and the worship of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank you for allowing me this great honor, Father. I would also like to thank all the members of the team: Melanie, Marc, Michael, Liz, Caitlin, Lynn, Jean, Emilie, Emma, Erica, Daphne, Lyana, Danielle, Tony, Kelly, Angie, Luke, Bill and Lydia for your ongoing love, commitment, leadership and awesome talents that you share with everyone every week that brings glory to God. I love you all very much and I am so proud of all of you for your time and effort. I would like to thank you guys, the congregation, for your ongoing support through prayer, praise and passion! What a great time to grow as a community here at St-Mikes.
From the beginning of time to today, praising the Lord has been on the lips of His people. Yes! That means us here at St-Michael and All Angels too! I have been blessed to see God at work this past year, once again, in this community. You alone be glorified, O Lord! Thank you God! Your faithfulness, love and presence is overwhelming! Thank you for the opportunity you give me to lead this wonderful ministry that has one purpose: to bring praise and glory to the One on High!
Continue to praise God with all you hearts, minds and souls!
In His love, your servant,
Phil. :o)
