Youth Ministry Report  2007

It has been an incredible year at Saint Michael and All Angels. My first full year is now behind me, and I am looking forward to the year ahead.

2007 was a great year. A lot of the same things that were done in 2006 remained in 2007, though with some subtle and important changes. The year progressed as usual with regard to Friday Night activities. We had a steady stream of approximately 20  30 young people coming out on a weekly basis. One thing that changed a little bit this year though, was that we met a little bit more often with other churches. We were able to do a few joint events with Westview, as well as some joint events with L'Eglise Chretien du L'Ouest, Lakeshore Evangelical and Ile Perrot Presbyterian.

Bible studies were something that we focused a little bit more on this year as well, with two different Bible Studies happening for the majority of the year. Those were a great experience, and ones that we have continued in to this New Year.

Retreats were highlights of the year for many of us, as we did two separate retreats with the whole group, as well as two retreats specifically for the leaders. Those were all wonderful experiences that brought us all a little bit closer. I know that we're all looking forward to another retreat soon!

The Leadership Team went through some changes this year, as some new people came on, while others moved on to focus their giftings in other areas. The group has synergized as a whole over the course of the year though, as we have become a bit more focused on our specific roles as leaders, and how we work to act those out. The Leadership Team has focused on three main areas; fellowship, outreach, and teaching. And all of the members of the Leadership Team have signed on to work in one of those three areas specifically, while all being open to help and share in all of the other three areas. It has been a great opportunity for everyone involved, to really focus on an area that God has called them to, and work for His Kingdom. One of the things that has come out of these groups, has been the outreach team, taking half of the money the Youth Group tithes and offers to fund micro-credit loans through World Vision. The Leadership Team is strong, and looking ahead.

Youth Church has continued to be a wonderful time for the group, as it gives us a solid time to hear the Word of God, learn, share, and grow together. We have also truly enjoyed taking part more in the regular services on a monthly basis, and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.

As the Youth Director, I am so thankful to God to have been given the opportunity to lead and serve these young people, as well as serve along side so many wonderful people in the church at large. I am thankful for 2007, and am looking forward with anticipation to 2008.

                                                                                Sincerely yours,
                                                                                   Trevor Potter
