"They gave to anyone as he had need" Acts 2: 45b
Presently Pastoral care at St Michael's consists of a registry of gifts, talents and services that we offer one another in times of a particular need. The following list was circulated among the parishioners two years ago. As you read over the list ask yourself "Is there anything in the way of gifts, talents and/or services that I feel the Lord is calling me to do?" Meal preparation Housework Laundry/washing - ironing Emergency child care Emergency senior care Painting Minor repairs Window washing Snow removal/ shoveling Grass cutting Hedge trimming Transportation to appointments West Island or Montreal Hospital visiting West Island or Montreal Home visits Taking a person out for coffee, tea and a movie, window shopping Shopping Personal or grocery
As you read over the list is there anything you would like to add to it? Do you require or know of someone who requires assistance?
In the Fall we would like to have a "senior buddy" system established in the parish as well as a team of visitors for our shut-ins.
In the Summer we ask for your prayers for God's guidance and blessing in regards to professional developement of the team.
In closing I would like to add the following prayer which was part of a five week pastoral care workshop entitled "Broaden the Vision"
Dear Lord help me to offer my hand to one who needs friendship my heart to one who needs love my understanding to one who needs a listener my thoughtfulness to one who needs to know that they are remembered my gentleness to one buffeted by the circumstances of life my compassion to one who is lonely my tranquility to one who is confused, uncertain, unsure my comfort to one who is bereaved my kindness to all of Your creatures my compassion to all living things Dear God help me to let my light shine from the Daily Word
